My first zentangle

Presenting my very first Zentangle, "Fantasy Pharaoh Boy". This past weekend I attended Words in the Woods: Moving Your Story Forward in Springfield, IL, sponsored by SCBWI-IL.  One of the down time activities was making a zentangle. I chose to use a magazine face...(from one of those milk commercials where the kids have a milk mustache). After cutting and pasting it on the page, I added my rough outline then divided the main shapes into sections like a puzzle. Traditional zentangles have patterns to follow so I filled in the spaces with these suggested patterns. I really liked doing this. It was fun and relaxing. Not sure if it would translate to an illustration but it was gloriously calming. If you haven't tried it yet, I recommend it!

  1. I think it would translate...somebody has a dream of Egypt...puts themself in the story. I LOVE THIS!! Wish I was still teaching so I could turn it into a lesson. Very cool!!
