Snow Scene

Snow Scene
Finally, one I really like. Must be the emotional connection. I loved ice skating when I was young. We'd go out on the lake at night, stars and moon above, gliding along listening to the swish of blades on ice. Magical.

Small Town

Small Town
I actually live in a small town. (Wish mine had a book store!)
The best thing about a small town is that everyone knows pretty much everyone, the worst part of a small town is the same thing!

Camping

Camping
This was fun, I especially liked working with all the line patterns, can you tell? My bears got a little dark and confusing but this is just a 'doodle' so I'm moving on.

Circus, ugh.

Circus
UGH. I was going for a "cirque de soleil" type performer, and totally lost her spine and hanging position. Desperately in need of a redo!

City

The City
Obviously I live no where near the city. (Note: stop sign, not stop light) ha. I found this challenging. It's so easy for me to see my 'mistakes' after the work is done. But hey, what city would not be proud to have Claes Oldenberg cars parked downtown?

In the Barn

In the barn
This is actually a piece from a picture book package I've never sent. It's the left side of a two page spread. On the right is square dancing hens. (Can you tell I LOVE to draw animals?)

The Zoo

The Zoo
OK, I know you get it, a nod to Michelangelo. My elephant pen is wonky but I liked the gorilla. Back to the drawing board.

Unexpected visitors to the beach

Unexpected Visitors to the Beach
Since I live far, far from any actual ocean beaches this is a stretch of my imagination.

Outdoor Pool

Outdoor Pool
If you have an eagle eye, you've probably spotted my mistake. I put the wall with the diving board too close to the viewer, I should have made the base more level with the fishbowl, ugh. I am feeling less intimidated by scenes after this month. Would like to take more risks with POV. Maybe the next drawing or two.

Amusement Park

Amusement Park
I'm missing color. Doodling is great and I have LOTS of things on my list to take to the studio. I can imagine this drawing in color. (Wondering where I would put words in such busy drawings.) I probably need to visit Richard Scarry's illustrations and study his page composition from his "busy" books.

My Favorite Room in the Museum

In the Museum
This was my favorite room in the museum. I love everything Egyptian, can you tell?

At the Dentist's Office

At the Dentist's Office
Please don't show this to my dentist. Actually my mouth does grow this big when they are working on it. I haven't actually seen it but this is the way it feels.

Little Country School

Little Country School
This would be fun to do in color. Think I'll add it to my do list.

Inside the Theater

Inside the theater
This was an interesting drawing to do. I think it might have been easier in color. I still have wonky straight lines. UGH.

Clothing Store, Restaurant, Ice Cream Shop

Clothing Store, Restaurant, Ice Cream Shop.
I bundled these three prompts into one illustration. (A Mall.)

Candy Store Thumbnails

The Candy Store
I was inspired by one of my fellow Doodle Day artists to look at a story from different points of view. Here's what I came up with.
It was fun and helped me concentrate on the essence of each "scene".

Waldo's Pet Shop

Pet Shop.
I don't think I could draw a straight line with a ruler.
this looks like "Where's Waldo?" Really busy. Maybe that's my style? We'll see. (I have been paying MUCH more attention to rooms and public spaces.)

Toy Store, Doodle Day Challenge. (Interiors this month)

Toy Store
Ugh, perspective and lettering, two of my challenge points. I didn't spot the trouble areas as well on the page as I do when I scan and view. Guess it's like holding an image up to the mirror. Gives you a more objective view point. I'm still working on the process. Learning as I go...

Grocery Store Doodle

Grocery Store
I was ok with everything but the
closest grocery cart.  It's wonky.
I need to pay stricter attention to
the lines of perspective. sigh.

January "Doodle Day" Doodles

Well, the holidays swept over me like a tidal wave, just now getting back to "normal". The prompts this month are scenes, which I know I'll struggle with. But nothing ventured, nothing gained so here I go. Adding a few at a time. Behind on my posting.
#1: Tilted Kitchen, ugh.
#2. Bathroom
#5. Playroom
#3. Living room (cop out! too close)
#4. Bedroom, (too symmetrical for me)
#6. Backyard, loved doing this one.
